It’s the new norm in the car industry, to debut a car online, and so it will be for the reveal of the new BMW iX3.

BMW’s iX3 will be the ‘core brand’s first pure electric model’. It will boast fifth-generation eDrive technology with newly developed and more powerful batteries giving the SUV a 440km range according to WLTP test cycle.

BMW says the key drive components (electric engine, power electronics and transmission) are now integrated in a central housing which it says frees up space and reduces mass while adding flexibility to enable it to be used in other models.

The iX3 leads the charge for BMW with the i4 and iNEXT set for launch in 2021.

With the arrival of the iX3, BMW’s five seat SUV will be available with combustion, hybrid and fully-electric powertrain options.

The iX3 will be landing in NZ in 2021, and those who want to view the online premier, you can log in at https://www.live.bmwgroup.com/de/live-streaming/ with the event due to begin at 8:00PM NZT on July 14.
