Porsche caught testing high-performance Panamera
Porsche looks to be preparing an even quicker version of the four-door Panamera, as if the Turbo S E-Hybrid isn’t fast enough.
A couple of different prototypes have been spotted doing the rounds at the Nürburgring, one featuring canards on the front bumper for added downforce while the other had four weird, curved tailpipes poking out from the rear bumper.
In the case of the latter, the changes are almost certainly for figuring out how to keep the car within noise regulations and won’t be present on a production model.
As to power, sources close to Porsche reckon the upgraded Panamera could have as much as 611kW, a decent jump from the Turbo S E-Hybrid’s 500kW output. They said the increase was confirmed by engineers talking to spy photographers, which sounds a bit far-fetched.
In any case, the new model should comfortably take the four-door, two-seat Nürburgring record from the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 if Porsche deletes the rear bench. ‘Ring records are getting quite specific now, aren’t they? Even with the rear seats in situ, the hi-po Panamera should pack enough grunt to snag the record.
