Skoda have pulled in two awards for two different models at the 2017 Red Dot design awards. The Kodiaq SUV and newly upgraded Octavia Wagon impressed 40 judges made up of independent designers, professors and specialised journalists to take the awards home.

“These awards make us very proud,” said Karl Neuhold, Head of Exterior Design at ŠKODA. “We are searching for beauty in simplicity, and combine functionality with aesthetics. Our lines are clean and clear-cut, and are inspired by Bohemian crystal glass art. We call it crystalline design. These details can be found in the exterior and in the interior. It makes our models unique,” added Neuhold.

This crystalline design is evident in the headlights, with traditional Czech crystal glass art being the inspiration. The end result is a beautifully clean, minimalistic look.

These two wins are the tenth and eleventh for Skoda since 2006, and mark the 62nd running of the Red Dot awards. The Kodiaq is set to launch in New Zealand this May, starting at $39,990. The updated Octavia wagon will also arrive in May, with local pricing to be announced.
